Hi, I'm Jessica Spann!
I'm a Vermont‑based photographer capturing brands, events, weddings, couples, families, portraits, and authentic stock imagery. Willing to travel wherever real moments and meaningful stories take me.

I photograph because I believe real moments matter — the quiet ones, the imperfect ones, the ones you want to remember years from now. My camera is simply a way to honor those moments with care.

I was born in Indiana and raised in Northwest Ohio, where I first learned to see the world through a camera. I saw the quiet, honest moments that felt too beautiful to lose. As a kid, photography became my way of remembering things: the light, the stillness, the small details that made life feel full. A film photography class in high school turned that curiosity into direction. I knew this was the path I wanted to follow.

At the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, I studied studio lighting, photojournalism, portraiture, and object photography. Each assignment taught me technique, but I always found myself drawn back to the same thing. Real life unfolding before the camera. The unposed. The imperfect. The moments that felt true.

After graduating, I moved to Columbus. My first job had me photographing athletic helmets with the decals our team designed. It was an unexpected start that taught me precision and patience. Outside of work, I photographed friends and families, and slowly those sessions grew into something bigger. Word spread. Stories found me.

Along the way, I photographed community moments, everyday faces, and small gatherings that reminded me why I loved this work. It's people being themselves, without pretense. Those experiences shaped the way I photograph now: gentle, observant, documentary‑inspired, always looking for the quiet beauty inside a moment.

Over time, my work expanded into the things I love most which is brand imagery; authentic stock photography; warm, documentary‑style event coverage; and personal stories told through weddings, couples, families, and portraits. Every session feels like an invitation to slow down and notice what’s real: the laughter, the softness, the connection, the details that make a story yours.

Now based in Vermont, and always willing to travel, Spann Photography is where all of these years come together. From the childhood curiosity, the film class, the studies, the early jobs, the people, the stories. It’s the space where I photograph life with care, simplicity, and honesty, creating images that feel warm, real, and thoughtfully made.
