I was born in Indiana and raised in Northwest Ohio. I started sketching, collecting colors, and noticing details. In my senior year of high school, my art teacher encouraged me to take a graphic design course. It was mostly hand‑drawn, simple, and exploratory, but it lit something in me. I loved the way design could shape a feeling.

I went on to study graphic design at Defiance College, where I learned the Adobe and more of the technical side of design. I learned how color, typography, and layout could guide a story or help someone feel understood. It was the first time design felt both expressive and intentional, a place where creativity met clarity.

After graduating, I moved to Columbus, Ohio to begin my career. My first job was in sports helmet design. From there, I worked at a print shop, learning the pre‑press side of design: preparing files, refining details, and understanding how artwork becomes something tangible. Those early years taught me craftsmanship, patience, and the beauty of thoughtful production.

During my time working at the library, my design work kept expanding. I began illustrating again. Mostly characters with personality, small scenes filled with warmth, and animals. I created artwork for print pieces, merchandise, and promotional materials, blending illustration with thoughtful design.

Over time, my design work grew into the things I love most: branding that feels honest and intentional; illustration inspired by nature, softness, and lived‑in beauty; social media graphics shaped with emotional intelligence; and print pieces crafted with care and simplicity.

Now based in Vermont, and always willing to travel, Spann Creative is where all of these years come together. The hand‑drawn beginnings, the college foundation, the early jobs, the rediscovered love for illustration, the stories, the people, the heart. It’s the space where I design with care, simplicity, and honesty, creating visuals that feel warm, real, and thoughtfully made.
